JOB TITLE: INVENTORY CONTROLLER

NATURE OF JOB: FULL TIME

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Management & Control

  • Monitor and manage daily inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability and prevent overstocking or stock-outs.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and periodic physical stocktakes, and reconcile variances with accounting records.
  • Track and report stock movements including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and dispatches.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in the ERP or inventory management system.


Stock Valuation & Costing

  • Apply appropriate costing methods (FIFO, weighted average, etc.) to ensure accurate stock valuation.
  • Assist in preparation of cost reports including cost of sales, margin analysis, and stock aging reports.
  • Work closely with the accounts department to support month-end and year-end inventory reconciliations.


Systems & Process Management

  • Ensure all stock transactions are accurately captured in the ERP or inventory management software.
  • Support continuous improvement of inventory processes and internal controls to reduce errors, losses, and wastage.
  • Identify and escalate system or process gaps affecting stock accuracy and recommend corrective actions.


Operations Support

  • Collaborate with procurement, warehousing, production, and sales teams to align stock levels with operational needs.
  • Verify and validate stock documentation such as GRNs, delivery notes, and issue vouchers.
  • Assist in monitoring stock quality and shelf-life, and flag slow-moving or obsolete items.


KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION

  • Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 2 years’ experience in inventory control, preferably within an FMCG environment
  • Strong accounting background with solid understanding of stock valuation and cost principles
  • Hands-on experience using ERP systems or inventory management software
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other data analysis tools is an added advantage
