Job Summary

As an occupational at Gilgil Specialist Hospital, you are responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing treatment programs for patients with occupational related disorders. Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Evaluation

·        Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients to assess their occupationalcondition, limitations, and functional abilities.

·        Review patients' medical histories, observe their movement and posture, and use various assessment techniques to identify impairments and formulate treatment plans as per the standards operating procedures for Gilgil Specialist Hospital.

·        Embrace Gilgil Specialist Hospital’s standards and treatment protocols by going above and beyond to ensure compliance with the set minimum standards of ensuring quality, affordable, and accessible health care services.

 


Treatment Planning and Implementation

·        Develop individualized treatment plans based on the assessment findings, considering the patients' goals, medical conditions, and rehabilitation needs.

·        Utilize a range of therapeutic techniques such as exercise programs, manual therapy, electrotherapy, and hydrotherapy to improve patients' mobility, strength, flexibility, and functional abilities.

·        Establish short-term and long-term goals and discuss the treatment approach with patients.

·        Instruct patients in performing therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities to aid in their recovery and promote self-management.

·        Monitor patients' progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.


Patient Education and Counseling

·        Educate patients and their caregivers on the nature of their condition, treatment options, and preventive measures to promote overall wellness.

·        Guide home exercises, proper body mechanics, and ergonomic principles to prevent further injuries and promote healthy lifestyles.

·        Provide ergonomic advice and recommend assistive devices if necessary.


Monitoring and Progress Evaluation

·        Throughout the treatment process, track patients' progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and regularly reassess their conditions.

·        Maintain detailed records and communicate with other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care.


Collaboration and Documentation

·        Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists, to coordinate patient care and ensure holistic treatment approaches.

·        Collaborate with the receptionist to ensure accurate and efficient billing processes for physiotherapy services.

·        Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant information.


Safety and Ethics

·        Adhere to professional and ethical standards in patient care, ensuring patient safety, privacy, and confidentiality always.

·        Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.


Professional Development and Quality Improvement

·        Stay abreast of the latest advancements in occupationaltherapythrough continuing education, professional seminars, and research activities.

·        Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the facility, contributing to the development of evidence-based practice and enhanced patient outcomes.


Academic and Professional Qualifications

·        Diploma in occupational therapy

·        Registered with the occupationaltherapyCouncil of Kenya

·        Copy of national identification document(ID/Passport)


Experience

·        At least one (1) year of clinical experience with training in first Aid


Skills and Competencies

·        Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with patients of diverse backgrounds.

·        Excellent communication skills to effectively convey treatment plans, instructions, and provide patient education.

·        Proficient in maintaining accurate and organized documentation.

·        Commitment to professional growth, ethical practice, and quality improvement.

·        Proficient in computer applications
