Job Summary

We seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Officer to join a healthcare team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care, diagnosing and managing various medical conditions, and ensuring the smooth operation of clinical services within the facility.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Patient Care

  • Conduct patient consultations, take medical histories, and perform physical examinations.
  • Diagnose and manage common illnesses, injuries, and other medical conditions.
  • Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests such as laboratory and imaging results.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications and treatments in line with established medical guidelines.


2. Medical Procedures

  • Perform routine and minor surgical procedures.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide first-aid and stabilization as required.


3. Patient Management

  • Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Refer complex or specialized cases to appropriate healthcare providers or facilities.
  • Offer health education and counseling on disease prevention, treatment adherence, and healthy living


4. Administration and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
  • Collect, analyze, and compile clinical data for reporting and performance tracking.
  • Assist in the overall administrative functions of the health facility.


5. Supervision and Training

  • Supervise and support junior healthcare staff, including nurses and interns.
  • Mentor students and provide on-the-job training to those on clinical attachment.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
  • Licensing: Must be registered with the relevant Clinical Officers’ Council and hold a valid practicing license.
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, preferably in patient care or healthcare facility management.
