JOB DETAILS: Department: Quality Assurance Section: Quality Assurance Duty Station: Kampala-Uganda Reports: Chief Executive Officer Supervises: Quality Assurance Officers Job Purpose: Responsible for leading the Quality Assurance activities; establishing best practices and driving food safety systems by developing, implementing and maintaining the factory's Quality and Food Safety Management Systems, standard operating procedures and regulatory programmes. EXCO Distributors Production team Other customers Sales team Local Authorities/ Regulators Other Business partners Key Responsibilities Food safety and compliance; Ensure that the production facilities strictly adhere to FCL Food Safety Management System requirements and industry standards through continuous monitoring. Ensure that high standards of hygiene personnel, plant, housekeeping, premises and environment are maintained throughout the entire facility whilst highlighting any areas requiring attention. Process Monitoring; Monitor production processes (regular checks on production lines from row materials to finished goods) to ascertain that all laid down standards and specifications are applied at all times, following up on any non-conformance/ anomaly to confirm that correction and corrective action have been taken and are effective. Check on market feedback and customer complaints and conduct root-cause analysis on non-conformances or issues raised and recommend corrective action to avert recurrence. Documentation and SOPs; Develop, implement and maintain quality control protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and checklists. Inspection and auditing; Inspect products and processes, identifying issues and ensuring corrective actions. Conduct market visits to our sales outlets/distributors to help maintain the quality standards. Train staff on good manufacturing processes. Enhance cohesion within the department and collaboration with other departments. Team supervision; Lead and train quality assurance staff. Link with external bodies and regulatory agents in ensuring that the quality standards are well maintained and that the company complies to national and international standards. Review consumer complaints, lead in root cause analysis and carry out corrective actions. Carry out good manufacturing practice audits evaluation and provide recommendations on areas of improvement. Review and verify raw materials, products, ingredients and chemical specifications sheets. Generate required quality performance reports Minimum Qualification Requirements: Degree in Food Science and Technology or Food Nutrition and Dietetics. ISO 9001, 14001, 22000 qualifications HACCP, TACCP, VACCP tools application Related Minimum Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing -food and beverages preferably. Knowledge of quality and food safety standards (QMS, FSMS, ISO, IEC 17025) Competencies Required: Behavioural Must be of unquestionable integrity, Honesty, Trustworthiness and Professionalism Leadership Must be a team player Must be a self-starter and have an appreciation of business growth and priorities.
