CMA CGM is  hiring an experienced Logistics Handling Operations Administrator – Customs Clearance based at our boarder station in Mutukula town located in Kyotera District to manage branch operations at the border, ensuring efficient customs clearance, cargo movement, compliance with regulations, and optimal client service.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

  • Manage the customs declaration processes for inbound and outbound cargo movement at the border.
  • Ensure timely release of lodged declarations (within 24 hours for transit, 48 hours for clearance).
  • Upload information and documents to cargo management systems promptly, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Prepare and share accurate daily and monthly cargo status reports.
  • Alert stakeholders to imminent irregularities, exposures, claims, financial liabilities and recommend corrective action.
  • Ensure the branch assets are maintained in good condition and ensure their safety.
  • Ensure proper accountability, reconciliations and reimbursements of petty cash with proper documentation as per the Company requirements.
  • Plan branch activities and ensure adequate operational funds.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies (URA, UNBS, NDA, MAAIF) for compliance.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams, Customer service teams and Finance to ensure customs clearances and cargo movement processes are aligned with operational requirements.
  • Represent the company in border station meetings and provide timely feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to local customs law, CEVA standards, CEVA Business Rules, CEVA Code of Conduct, Company SOPs and internal controls.
  • Participate in audits, compliance reviews and implement corrective actions.
  • Recommend process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • A university degree in Transport and Logistics Management OR any other related course.
  • East African Customs and Freight Forwarding certificate is desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years’ working experience in a reputable clearing & Forwarding Firm.
  • Familiarity with Uganda Revenue Authority customs procedures.
  • Applicants must be residents of Mutukula.
  • Must be able to keep deadlines all the time with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to address operational challenges effectively.
  • Excellent presentation skills is important for collaborations with key clientele and other key stakeholders.
  • High level of proficiency in using computer applications.
  • High integrity, self-driven and able to set own work schedule with rigorous deadlines.
  • Must have effective communication skills, both written and oral. Excellent English speaking and writing skills.
  • Demonstrable aptitude for teamwork.
  • High level of interpersonal skills.
