Grant Thornton is hiring a Senior Associate – Tax Services to drive end-to-end delivery of tax compliance and consulting engagements for a diverse client portfolio. The role provides strategic support in preparing and reviewing tax computations, managing statutory filings, handling tax objections, and representing clients before the tax authority. The Senior Associate will also contribute to client education through webinars and trainings, support technical research, and ensure consistent alignment with the firm’s quality standards.
This position demands strong analytical acumen, stakeholder management capability, and a proactive approach to navigating evolving tax regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Deliver high-quality tax compliance services, including preparation and review of tax computations, returns, and statutory submissions.
Provide practical tax consulting support across direct and indirect taxes, grounded in technical research and well-developed tax opinions.
Handle tax objections for clients with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), ensuring comprehensive follow-up until approvals or resolutions are secured.
Represent clients before the URA in audits, reconciliations, inquiries, and dispute resolution processes.
Participate in delivering client-focused webinars, trainings, and sensitization sessions on emerging tax trends, amendments, and regulatory developments.
Engage clients on tax planning opportunities while proactively identifying risks and value-creation levers.
Support negotiations and resolution of tax matters with the authorities, ensuring accurate documentation and timely closure.
Collaborate with internal teams to meet engagement timelines and quality expectations.
Contribute to knowledge sharing, team capability building, and continuous process enhancement.
Experience and Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
A professional qualification (ACCA/CPA) or progress toward completion.
3-4 years of hands-on experience in tax consulting or compliance, ideally within a reputable audit or tax advisory firm.
Excellent communication, client management, and project delivery skills.
A proactive, agile, and solutions-oriented mindset.
