Position:
NbS Officer / Landscape Coordinator
Key Responsibilities
Support climate-resilient value chains that strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers to adapt to rapidly changing micro-climate impacts and withstand shocks.
Support WWF-UCO in developing and mainstreaming climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies and actions in energy, forestry, and freshwater initiatives based on findings and recommendations from the WWF-UCO Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment and other related studies.

Lead staff and partners to identify and partner with private sector actors and financial institutions to provide marketing and financial solutions along value chains to unlock barriers to productivity and profitability.
Support the development of climate change mitigation and adaptation capacity-strengthening initiatives for WWF-UCO staff and partners, including climate-smart conservation and community-based climate risk assessments, and the identification of locally suited NbS.
Ensure coordination with WWF-UCO Forest initiatives and promote synergies within project portfolios related to NbS, resilience, and the development of green jobs and value-chain mechanisms, including food systems, coffee value chains, and Nature-based Enterprises (NbE).
Collaborate with the Regional Office of Africa (ROA) and the WWF-UCO conservation team to build relationships with NGOs, government ministries and departments, academia, and development partners to advance mitigation and adaptation frameworks, strategies, and tools.
Engage with the global WWF NbS network and the WWF energy and climate practice to integrate global perspectives into national context and promote lessons learned and best practices.
Support the development of funding opportunities for climate change and NbS work.
Support local, national, and international processes on climate change adaptation, development of climate-proof sustainable energy infrastructure, and reduction of carbon footprints.
Support national and international advocacy relevant to climate change mitigation, adaptation, and NbS development.
Monitor and evaluate climate change mitigation and adaptation interventions with national and local stakeholders in the Albertine Graben in line with WWF standards and guidelines.
Support WWF-UCO in research, innovation, and development of sustainability tools to promote green technologies and practices for improved environmental and social performance.
