Rikolto in East Africa is hiring a qualified

Finance Analyst

to support financial planning, analysis, and reporting across

Tanzania, Uganda, and Rwanda

.

The Finance Analyst will:

Ensure sound financial planning, analysis, and reporting across the three countries.

Safeguard the accuracy and consistency of financial information.

Guarantee compliance with accounting standards and donor requirements.

Deliver timely and high-quality financial reports for management and partners.

Supervise and build the capacity of country finance teams to strengthen financial management systems.

Duty Station:

Arusha, Tanzania and Mbale or Kampala, Uganda (with occasional travel around the region)

Reports to:

Regional Finance Manager

Key Responsibilities

A. Financial Analysis and Reporting

Prepare, monitor, and consolidate budgets at regional, country, donor, project, and activity levels.

Conduct variance analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting to support management decisions.

Maintain a strong understanding of the relationship between the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement.

Prepare and adapt reports according to donor templates and internal requirements.

Support scenario analysis, financial modelling, and strategic forecasting.

Review all draft transactions before posting to the accounting system.

Ensure regional consolidated financial reports are accurate, consistent, and submitted on time.

B. Supervision and Leadership

Supervise Finance Officers (3 in Tanzania, 1 in Uganda) and provide technical guidance.

Review country-level financial reports and transactions for compliance and accuracy.

Identify skill gaps within finance teams and propose capacity-building actions.

Conduct coaching and mentoring sessions to strengthen analytical and reporting skills.

Promote harmonization and consistency of financial practices across country offices.

C. Compliance and Control

Review accounting transactions and ensure correct analytical coding.

Approve expenditures and validate documentation according to internal and donor policies.

Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards:

Tanzania:

IPAS for non-profit organizations

Uganda:

IFRS for SMEs applicable to non-profits

Rwanda:

IFRS for private and non-profit organizations

Support internal and external audits and follow up on recommendations.

D. Data Management and Automation

Maintain an efficient analytical coding structure (donor, project, activity, cost center).

Use advanced Excel tools (Power Query, Power Pivot, Pivot Tables, Data Validation, VBA) for automation and reporting.

Consolidate and analyze financial data using BI or data visualization tools.

Support integration and harmonization of ERP systems (Exact Globe Next or similar).

E. Process Improvement

Strengthen internal controls, segregation of duties, and workflow efficiency.

Recommend and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting systems.

Contribute to standardizing regional financial procedures and templates.

Expected Outputs

Accurate, consistent regional consolidated financial reports submitted on time.

No errors in analytical coding or cost allocation across countries, donors, and projects.

Country finance teams effectively supervised and capacitated.

Timely monthly budget monitoring reports shared with programme managers.

Donor reports compliant with all templates and maintaining data integrity.

Ongoing improvement and automation of regional finance processes and tools.

Country compliance with accounting standards: IPAS (Tanzania), IFRS for SMEs (Uganda), IFRS (Rwanda).

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is an added advantage).

CPA, ACCA, CMA, CIMA, or equivalent chartered certification (mandatory).

Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial analysis, planning, and reporting — ideally in an international NGO or regional setup.

Proven experience with multi-donor, multi-country financial reporting and audit coordination.

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of IPAS, IFRS for SMEs, and IFRS standards.

Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.

Experience with ERP systems (Exact, Navision, or similar).

Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills.

Knowledge of donor financial procedures (EU, USAID, IFAD, DGD, World Bank, etc.).

Behavioral and Leadership Skills

Proven leadership, coaching, and mentoring ability.

High analytical capacity and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Integrity, discretion, and commitment to deadlines.

Ability to work independently in a multicultural environment.

Character Traits

Dynamic, emotionally stable, diplomatic, rigorous, team-oriented, tactful, and highly responsible with a strong sense of confidentiality.

Job Challenges

Managing diverse accounting frameworks and regulations across countries.

Meeting strict deadlines for donor and management reporting.

Coordinating financial operations across multiple countries and frequent travel.
