Equity Bank Uganda is hiring a Digital Lending Assurance and Control Manager  responsible for ensuring the integrity, compliance, and operational efficiency of digital lending processes within the credit origination lifecycle. The role focuses on monitoring, validating, and improving digital loan origination systems, workflows, and controls to mitigate risk, enhance customer experience, and ensure adherence to regulatory and internal standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Validate end-to-end digital loan origination processes for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements (KYC, AML, data privacy).

Conduct periodic audits and quality checks on digital lending workflows and documentation

Identify gaps, risks, and control weaknesses in digital origination systems.

Recommend and implement corrective actions to minimize operational and credit risk.

Monitor loan origination system performance and ensure seamless integration with core banking platforms.

Collaborate with IT and product teams to resolve system issues and enhance automation.

Review flagged applications for potential fraud or irregularities.

Work with fraud prevention teams to strengthen digital lending security protocols.

Ensure compliance with local banking regulations, internal credit policies, and digital lending standards.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes impacting digital lending.

Prepare assurance reports highlighting process gaps, compliance breaches, and improvement opportunities.

Track KPIs related to origination accuracy, turnaround time, and error rates.

Liaise with branches to monitor performance of the digital loan portfolio and ensure the Portfolio-At-Risk (PAR) is maintained at acceptable levels as set by the Bank.

Make use of existing technologies to maximize customer contact whilst minimizing cost per contact, review and propose new technologies as required.

Ensure compliance with all credit policies and procedures.

Track and analyze the performance of the digital lending portfolio, including delinquency trends, NPL ratios, and early warning indicators.

Prepare assurance and portfolio monitoring reports highlighting process gaps, compliance breaches, and improvement opportunities.

Track KPIs related to origination accuracy, turnaround time, error rates, and portfolio risk metrics.

Monitor credit quality and risk concentration across segments, products, and channels.

Provide insights on portfolio health to support proactive risk management and decision making.

Develop dashboards and reports for senior management on portfolio performance and assurance findings

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Business related courses

MBA will be an added advantage

Skills

Technical knowledge in Loan Origination Systems, portfolio analytics tools, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

Excellent Data analysis and Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills.

Critical Thinking and Problem solving

High level of attention to detail and interpersonal skills

Excellent written, oral communication skills, negotiation Skills and stakeholder management

Take ownership for the work assigned and have good follow through skills.

Ability to consistently deliver accurate results on-time and hold others accountable.

Exceptional eye for details

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of KYC/CIP, AML, lending regulations, and portfolio risk metrics.

Ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights

Experience

5 years relevant work experience with a focus on credit origination, digital lending operations, risk assurance, or portfolio monitoring.
