Protea Hotel Kampala Skyz is hiring  a highly detail-orientated and integrity-driven Day Auditor / Head Cashier to take on a dual role that ensures absolute accuracy in our daily financial audits while overseeing all cashiering operations. This position is critical to maintaining strong financial controls and delivering the high standards expected at our hotel.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Verification & Reconciliation

  • Verify credit card batches, allowances, payouts, and refunds with full supporting documentation.
  • Reconcile city ledger, miscellaneous income, manually raised revenue, and complimentary bills.
  • Review P.M. folios, lost interface charges, telephone and business centre vouchers.
  • Conduct weekly and daily float checks for the Front Office team.
  • Ensure accuracy of all posted and voided cash and foreign currency transactions.

Revenue Integrity & Rate Compliance

  • Complete daily trial balance verification with special focus on cash revenue.
  • Review day use, early arrival, late departure, and manual postings.
  • Ensure walk-in and special rates comply with seasonal pricing and proper approvals.
  • Audit room changes, complimentary forms, contracted rates, debit and credit transfers.

Cashiering Supervision (Head Cashier Duties)

  • Oversee all cashiering operations and safeguard all cash, cheques and credit card batches.
  • Manage float issuance, control, reconciliation, and daily checks.
  • Verify cashier reports, overs and shorts, and ensure proper drops and deposits.
  • Maintain accurate foreign currency exchange records.
  • Train and support front office staff on correct cashiering processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA is a strong advantage.
  • 3 to 4 years of hotel audit or similar accounting experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Opera PMS and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, analytical ability, and supervisory skills.
  • Strong communication skills for staff training and cross-departmental collaboration.
