Description

Job Purpose:

Responsible for handling legal matters arising during project implementation and related
matters.

Key Results Areas
Provide legal guidance and prepare well-reasoned legal opinions on pertinent issues
related to land acquisition.
Identify and advise on the essential legal documents required for land acquisition,
ensuring completeness, accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
3. Prepare and review land acquisition agreements, Memoranda of Understanding
(MOUs), Easement Agreements, and other related documents required for acquisition
of land.
4. Advise Project Contract Managers on contract management related issues ensuring
adherence to Terms of Reference and contractual obligations.

5. Carry out sensitization of Project-Affected Persons (PAPS) for ongoing Projects on legal
principles and parameters in land acquisition.
6. Respond promptly to complaints, notices of intention to sue and other legal
correspondence from PAPs or their legal representatives.
7. Identify the legal risks and common legal issues associated with land acquisition and
RAP compensation and establish a data base for continued capturing of issues &
proposed solutions.
8. Engage with the Office of the Attorney General, Administrator General, and relevant
courts to secure timely approvals, legal opinions and guidance on critical matters.
9. Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honors
Post Graduate Diploma in Legal practice.
Holds a valid practicing certificate
Experience of at least 2 years as a practicing advocate
