Key Responsibilities

The Graduate Intern Structural Engineer will assist the design team with tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Design & Analysis: Assisting with structural analysis and design calculations for various materials (e.g., concrete, steel, timber) under the supervision of senior engineers.

  • Drafting & Documentation: Preparing and reviewing structural drawings, plans, and specifications using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).

  • Site Visits: Participating in site inspections and field visits to monitor construction progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and standards.

  • Collaboration: Working closely with architects, project managers, and other engineering disciplines.

  • Code Compliance: Researching and applying relevant local and international building codes and standards.

  • Reporting: Preparing technical reports, summaries, and presentations on project progress and findings.

What We’re Looking For (Required Qualifications)

  • Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, obtained within the last [Insert Time Frame, e.g., 1-2 years].

  • Knowledge: Foundational understanding of structural analysis principles, building codes, and different construction materials.

  • Software Skills: Proficiency or familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, Robot, etc.) and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Mindset: A strong desire to learn, a proactive attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Legal: Must be legally eligible to work in uganda.
