Description
JOB DETAILS: Job Summary: The Boiler Shift Fitter is a skilled maintenance professional responsible for the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of high-pressure boiler systems, auxiliary equipment, and associated plant piping. This role ensures the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of steam generation and distribution systems. Key Responsibilities: Perform scheduled and emergency mechanical repairs on boilers, pumps, valves, compressors, fans, and fuel systems. Conduct preventative maintenance tasks, including inspections, lubrication, and component replacement. Interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and mechanical schematics. Fabricate, install, and repair piping systems using threading, welding, and fitting techniques. Disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical equipment such as boiler feed pumps, sootblowers, and dampers. Work closely with Boiler Firemen/Operators to diagnose issues and coordinate repairs during shift operations. Strictly adhere to safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and working on high-pressure systems. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work order documentation. Qualifications & Skills: Education: High school diploma; completion of a recognized apprenticeship as a Fitter, Millwright, or Pipefitter. Experience: Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, with specific experience on high-pressure boilers and rotating equipment. Licenses/Certifications: Welding certification (e.g., SMAW, GTAW) is a strong asset. Required safety training (LOTO, Confined Space, etc.). Skills: Proficient in precision measuring, rigging, and the use of machine tools. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure during breakdowns.
