Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and business-oriented Technical & Commercial Manager to oversee the operations of our Air Conditioning Division. The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving sales and profit targets, managing supplier relationships, overseeing technical training, ensuring project execution excellence.

Job Description/Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Sales & Profitability

  • Achieve and exceed sales and profit targets for the Air Conditioning Division.
  • Conduct market price surveys to determine optimal pricing and maximize profitability.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies based on landed costs and market conditions.

2. Costing & Pricing Management

  • Calculate landed costs for imported air conditioners and related materials (e.g., copper pipes, fittings, nuts & bolts).
  • Work closely with the marketing team to set competitive and profitable selling prices.
  • Manage the P&L for the division, ensuring cost efficiency and sustainable margins.
3. Supplier & Corporate Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with LG for all commercial and technical matters, including:
  • Price negotiations
  • Letter of Credit (LC) processing
  • After-sales support and warranty coordination
  • Maintain strong relationships with upstream partners to ensure smooth operations and collaboration.

4. Technical Training & Development

  • Design and implement training programs for technicians on installation, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of air conditioning systems.
  • Personally train and mentor technicians on all LG Air Conditioning systems, including Split Units, MPS, Multi V, and Ducted Units.
  • Build a technically proficient and customer-focused service team.
5. Project Management

  • Oversee commercial HVAC projects, ensuring timely completion, adherence to work programs, and compliance with quality standards.
  • Liaise with consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure smooth execution and project satisfaction.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and manpower allocation.
6. Team Leadership & Operations

  • Create and implement systems and processes for efficient team operations, including forming specialized units (installation, repair, and service teams).
  • Allocate technician assignments, monitor job progress, and ensure work meets professional standards.
  • Conduct site visits to verify quality of work and provide technical guidance.
7. Inventory & Logistics Management

  • Manage inventory levels and oversee equipment ordering from LG and other suppliers with relevant approvals.
  • Track consignment status, including transport type, shipping progress, and expected arrival dates in Uganda.
  • Optimize logistics costs and schedules to support project timelines.


Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC design, installation, maintenance, and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of LG HVAC systems and components.
  • Proven experience in pricing, landed cost analysis, and profit management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for managing supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, lead, and develop technical teams.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and leadership skills.
