Job Summary & Purpose

The Outlet Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Outlet including stock receipt, weighing, icing, housekeeping, order preparation, and customer handling.
The role ensures precision, quality, and efficiency within the Outlet, contributing to sales targets and maintaining exceptional customer service while adhering to safety and hygiene standards.

Key Result Areas (KRAs)

  1. Achieve monthly sales targets for the Outlet.

  2. Deliver excellent customer service.

  3. Maintain hygiene of tools, workspace, and PPEs.

  4. Adhere to product safety & quality guidelines.

  5. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

  6. Learn Outlet operations quickly, including product knowledge and market dynamics.

  7. Collaborate and participate effectively as part of the Outlet team.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Participate in driving Outlet performance by proposing and supporting sales-growth initiatives.

  2. Deliver excellent customer service, ensuring proper store appearance, product display, stock ordering, SKU arrangement, and product selling.

  3. Follow up and/or escalate customer complaints to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution for both the customer and the company.

  4. Receive and organize stock supplies; maintain proper inventory levels and ensure fridges are adequately stocked.

  5. Conduct quality assurance checks on fish; ensure correct handling, storage, processing, packing, and icing to maintain freshness. Enforce the YU Red Stock SOP.

  6. Develop and maintain strong product knowledge, including new offers, and confidently communicate this to customers and colleagues.

  7. Take and prepare customer orders, pack products, and process transactions through the POS.

  8. Assist the Supervisor with banking processes, including cash reconciliations and managing change.

  9. Support handling of the cash register, pricing, POS sales capturing, inventory control, and end-of-day stock reconciliation.

  10. Maintain high hygiene standards for all facilities and equipment, complying with food safety guidelines.

  11. Handle general administrative tasks to support smooth Outlet operations, including timely report submission.

  12. Follow health and safety procedures and report any incidents or concerns promptly.

  13. Conduct regular inspections of equipment such as fridges, POS machines, and weighing scales to ensure safe and proper functionality.

  14. Comply with Workstream procedures, Retail SOPs, and company policies.

  15. Attend scheduled training sessions for continuous knowledge and skill development.

  16. Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. Achievement of monthly sales targets.

  2. Achievement and maintenance of a 0.5% monthly stock loss target.

  3. High customer satisfaction and adherence to product safety standards.

  4. Minimal customer complaints.

  5. Consistent maintenance of hygiene standards.

  6. Zero major or fatal safety incidents.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Diploma in Business Administration or a related field.

  • Must have at least a Credit in Mathematics at UCE and a Principal Pass in Economics or Entrepreneurship at UACE.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in fish processing/handling or a related field is an added advantage.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong customer management and customer care skills.

  • Good command of English and local languages.

  • High level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Willingness to work long hours when required.

  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures.

  • Knowledge and attention to detail in sorting, grading, handling, and packing fish.

Working Conditions

The role involves physical activity including handling weights, standing for prolonged periods, and working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Outlet environment includes exposure to fish odour; therefore, proper use of PPE and adherence to workflow and safety instructions is required.
