EAST AFRICA CRUDE OIL PIPELINE ( EACOP)
Overview
The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is a 1,443-kilometer buried pipeline project transporting crude oil from Uganda’s Lake Albert region to a terminal in Tanga, Tanzania, for international export. The pipeline, designed to transport up to 246,000 barrels of crude oil per day, is a collaborative venture involving TotalEnergies, the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), and the China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC). The project includes pumping and heating stations, and once construction is complete, the land above the buried pipeline will be restored for people and animals to cross freely.
