Description

We are seeking five compassionate, qualified Anxiety Counsellors to support adult clients experiencing anxiety-related challenges. The successful candidate will work with individuals to identify, understand, and manage the emotional, cognitive, and physical impacts of anxiety. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of mental health, and the ability to create a safe, non-judgmental space for clients to explore their feelings and develop coping strategies.

Responsibilities of an Anxiety Counsellor (Adults)

  • Evaluate clients' mental health, history, symptoms, and needs.
  • Identify the severity and type of anxiety disorder (e.g., GAD, panic disorder, social anxiety, etc.).
  • Collaborate with clients to create tailored counselling goals.
  • Select appropriate therapeutic interventions (e.g., CBT, mindfulness-based therapy).
  • Facilitate regular therapy sessions.
  • Use evidence-based techniques to help clients manage anxiety.
  • Support clients in developing coping strategies and skills.
  • Track and evaluate changes in symptoms and functioning.
  • Adjust treatment approaches as necessary based on client feedback and progress.
  • Document session notes, treatment plans, and assessments securely and professionally.
  • Provide psychoeducation on anxiety, triggers, and the body’s stress response.
  • Teach techniques such as grounding, breathing exercises, and relaxation strategies.
  • Recognize signs of acute distress or risk and provide appropriate crisis management.
  • Refer to psychiatric or emergency services when needed.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers, psychiatrists, or social workers, when appropriate and with consent.
  • Build a trusting relationship with clients.
  • Ensure sessions are conducted with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Stay current with research and best practices in anxiety treatment.
  • Attend workshops, training, and supervision sessions.
