Cashier

This role involves receiving payments, issuing receipts, giving change, and keeping track of daily sales. The cashier also assists customers, answers basic product questions, and ensures the checkout area is clean and organized. Cashiers are essential in creating a positive customer experience and maintaining accuracy in money handling. They play a key role in retail operations by keeping things moving efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Operate a cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system to process transactions.
• Receive payments by cash, mobile money, card, or voucher.
• Issue receipts, count change, and keep accurate sales records.
• Greet customers and assist with basic product or pricing inquiries.
• Maintain cleanliness and order at the checkout counter.
• Report shortages, overages, or equipment issues to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Basic education; training in customer service or cash handling is a plus.
• Good math skills and attention to detail.
