Waste Collection and Recycling Coordinator

We are seeking a motivated and organized Waste Collection and Recycling Coordinator to lead and manage daily waste management operations in the community. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing waste collection routes, coordinating sorting and recycling activities, and engaging with local stakeholders to promote sustainable waste practices.

In this role, the Coordinator will work closely with local authorities, informal waste collectors, NGOs, and recycling businesses to implement practical, community-based solutions for collecting, sorting, and reusing plastic, paper, glass, organic, and other forms of waste. The successful candidate will also design and lead awareness campaigns to educate residents on proper waste disposal and the benefits of recycling.

This is a hands-on position that plays a key part in improving environmental health, creating green jobs, and supporting the transition to a circular economy.

Responsibilities

• Organize waste collection schedules and manage collection teams.
• Coordinate with local recycling centers or buyers for sorted waste.
• Train community members on how to separate and handle waste properly.
• Monitor safety, hygiene, and efficiency of operations.
• Support small-scale recycling and composting initiatives.
• Keep records of collected materials and revenue from recycled items.
